Wye Valley Brewery Celebrates 10 Years of 1985 Lager

First poured in pubs in 2016, 1985 – affectionately known as ’85 by many of its loyal fans – was created as a crisp, refreshing and easy-drinking premium lager. Brewed using British-grown hops alongside carefully selected European lager hops, it has gone on to win multiple brewing awards while earning a reputation for quality and consistency.

At a time when new lagers appear on the market almost every year and many familiar brands are owned by multinational brewing groups, Wye Valley Brewery believes 1985 continues to stand out thanks to its traditional brewing methods, premium ingredients and independent family ownership.

The lager sits alongside some of the brewery’s best-known beers, including Butty Bach, HPA, and the smooth nitro stout Nightjar, all brewed at the company’s Herefordshire brewery.

Max Amor, son of Wye Valley Brewery Managing Director Vernon Amor, said reaching the 10-year milestone is a significant achievement.

“Lager is one of the most competitive beer categories in the industry, with new brands launching every year, which makes reaching our 10th anniversary a milestone to be proud of.

“Every pint and every can of 1985 is brewed here in Herefordshire by our team, using British-grown hops alongside traditional European lager hops.

“As an independent, third-generation family brewery, we’re passionate about brewing beers with real character and provenance. We believe people appreciate that independence and can genuinely taste the difference.”

As Wye Valley Brewery celebrates a decade of 1985, the lager continues to prove that traditional brewing, quality ingredients and independent craftsmanship remain a winning combination for British beer lovers.
