The Cornish Arms says it wants to bring back “proper pub prices” and make the local pub affordable again.
A South West pub is bringing back £2.50 pints just in time for summer as it looks to make going to the local pub affordable again.
The Cornish Arms in Constantine, Cornwall, has announced the return of what it calls “Proper Pub Prices” in a bid to encourage locals back through the doors at a time when many pubs across Britain are charging £5 or more for a pint.
Located between Falmouth and Helston, the village pub says it wants to focus less on becoming a destination venue and more on returning to the traditional role of a proper local pub at the heart of the community.
Speaking about the move, those behind the pub said they wanted to “get back to basics” and make the pub somewhere people can visit regularly rather than only on special occasions.
The move comes as rising food, staffing, and energy costs continue putting pressure on pubs across the UK, with many drinkers increasingly searching for affordable nights out and cheaper pint prices.
The return of £2.50 pints has already attracted attention online, with many pubgoers praising the decision and saying more pubs should follow the same approach to help keep local pub culture alive.
As summer approaches and beer gardens begin filling up again, affordable drinks deals are expected to become a major attraction for pubs hoping to increase footfall and boost trade during the warmer months.
