Actionable feedback policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026

Useful feedback is specific enough for us to investigate and act on. This page explains how Pub & Social turns credible reader input into corrections, improvements and follow-up work.

What makes feedback actionable?

The most helpful message identifies a page, explains the issue and provides evidence or a clear example. A correction request should quote the disputed statement and suggest what needs checking. An accessibility report should describe the device, browser or assistive technology involved. A story tip should explain why it matters to pub or hospitality readers.

What we may do

  • correct a factual error and add an explanatory note;
  • clarify wording that is accurate but open to misunderstanding;
  • add context, a source link or a response from an affected party;
  • repair a broken link, image, form or navigation problem;
  • change language that creates an unnecessary barrier or unfair implication;
  • commission follow-up reporting when the evidence raises a wider issue;
  • record a recurring problem so it informs future editorial guidance.

How decisions are made

We consider accuracy, evidence, public interest, fairness, privacy, legal risk and the likely effect on readers. Not every request will result in a change. We do not alter accurate material simply to remove legitimate criticism, and we do not allow organised pressure to replace editorial judgement.

Closing the loop

Where practical, we tell the person who raised a substantive issue what action was taken. If a material correction is made, the published article should explain it in line with our Corrections & Updates Policy.
