Pub & Social respects intellectual property, privacy and lawful reporting rights. This policy explains how to ask us to review, correct, restrict or remove material.
Before sending a request
Please identify the exact Pub & Social page and the specific words, image, video or other material concerned. Explain your connection to the material and the outcome you want.
Copyright notices
A copyright request should include:
- A description of the original protected work.
- The Pub & Social URL and exact material alleged to infringe it.
- The name of the rights owner and your authority to act.
- Your contact details and any supporting registration, licence or source evidence.
- A good-faith statement explaining why the use is not authorised by the owner, an agent or the law.
Privacy, safety and other removal requests
You may also contact us about exposed personal information, a serious safety risk, court restrictions, impersonation, unlawful content or material that is no longer justified. Explain the harm, your relationship to the content and any urgent deadline.
How we assess requests
We consider ownership and authority, licences, quotation and other legal exceptions, accuracy, newsworthiness, public interest, the passage of time, freedom of expression and the harm of continued publication.
Removal is not automatic where we have permission, a legal exception applies or publication remains justified. We may remove, replace, crop, anonymise, correct, add context, restrict access or decline the request.
Temporary restriction
Where a credible notice identifies a serious risk, we may temporarily restrict material while investigating. A temporary step does not decide the final outcome.
Evidence and responses
We may ask the requester, contributor, photographer, publisher or rights owner for more evidence. We may share the substance of a notice where reasonably necessary to investigate, subject to privacy and safety.
Counter-information and restoration
If content is restricted, a contributor may provide a licence, permission, proof of authorship, public-interest explanation or other evidence supporting restoration. We will reassess the material on the available facts.
Corrections, archive material and de-indexing
Where the concern is factual rather than a rights issue, use our Corrections & Updates Policy. We do not normally remove accurate archive material simply because it is inconvenient, but may consider anonymisation or search de-indexing where the continuing harm clearly outweighs the public value.
How to send a request
Email hello@pubsocial.co.uk with “Copyright or removal request” in the subject line. Include all relevant URLs and evidence so we can investigate efficiently.
Abusive or false notices
Knowingly false, fraudulent, threatening or repetitive notices may be rejected. This process does not limit any right to obtain independent legal advice, contact a regulator or use an available legal remedy.
